The Champion™

The book Champion™ is a true love story between a man and a woman. It is the story of a man who was a priest and fell in love with a magnificent woman. This man changed his own life and the lives of others through his love, integrity, and passion for life.

The story takes place between the years 1928 and 2016. It is the story of John and Mary. They lived an incredible life. The protagonist, John, was a priest and knew Mary. After many years of contributing to his community, John made a decision that changed his entire life.

John met a magnificent woman. He changed his life. He started a family. He made mistakes and was surprised by the twists of fate, which turned his life upside down for a second time.

The book Champion™  gradually presents a captivating story that brings out the imagination and creativity. It presents evidence of unconditional love, a love that knows no limits.

The achievements of a man being who stood as an example of character and who left behind many life lessons, remain for posterity. There was a sense of sensitivity and tenderness in the way he acted.

Gustavo Hansen began writing Champion™  in 2016. Initially, he wrote parts of it by hand before transcribing them onto a computer. He always viewed this book as a life mission. For several years, the manuscript sat on his desk, never relegated to a forgotten drawer.

Starting in 2020, Gustavo Hansen truly began writing the book.

The names of each character in the book have been changed to create a modern, captivating, and imaginative reading experience suited to the present day.

When the Champion™ book began to take shape, Gustavo Hansen underwent various transformations.

Creative Process

When the book was halfway through its pages, Gustavo Hansen reinvigorated himself to finish it. He thought to himself, "I've made it to 50% of the book, I can finish it." And something different happened. At that stage, something shifted: the book began to gain momentum, and certain chapters were completed out of sequence, some even being finished before others. Changing the characters' names allowed Gustavo Hansen to write with greater freedom, without it becoming an autobiography of its protagonist, John. In this way, the book became more comprehensive, more compelling, and more fascinating.

Chronology of the book Champion™

1928 - 1970

It all began in 1928, when Jean—the son of farmers—was born in an agricultural village in the southern part of a tropical country. He was the first of eleven children born to German immigrant parents, George and Elizabeth.

1971 - 1974

1975 - 2000

Mary became pregnant in 1974. The pregnancy went perfectly and she gave birth to her first child, Pierre.

In early 1978, in the middle of summer, John and Mary quickly went to the same hospital, and Mary gave birth to her second child, Peter.

2000 - 2016

In early 2000, John was living as a retiree. His diet remained the same, and he continued to smoke. His family did not monitor either his smoking or his eating habits. He avoided going to the doctor for fear of receiving a bad diagnosis. He did not have a regular doctor. He had no desire to change his eating habits. He seemed satisfied with his life.
